A cultural project combining live music, storytelling, puzzles, and ritualized performance to encourage real-world human interaction
Who is Rev. Jon Valt?
Rev. Jon Valt is the central character and performer who delivers music, sermons, and narrative leadership within the movement
Is Rev. Jon Valt a real person?
Yes. The performer is a real musician, minister, and credentialed cybersecurity expert presenting a theatrical persona
What is the purpose of the movement?
To counteract isolation caused by modern digital systems by creating shared experiences around music and puzzles
What happens at Rev. Jon Valt events?
Events include live music, visual projections, ritual elements, puzzles, and (most especially) audience participation
What kind of music is performed?
Electronic, experimental, and eclectic music with spoken-word sermon elements
Why does the movement use preacher imagery?
Revivalist aesthetics provide a theatrical framework for storytelling and community gathering
What does “Robots are coming” mean?
It refers metaphorically to the capture of human attention by systems that reduce people to passive consumers of media. It serves both as a greeting between members and a warning to the public
What does “God Bless the Robot” mean?
It is a satirical phrase used publicly while insiders understand its hidden meaning
What are the ribbons people wear?
Long ribbons worn around the neck that signify participation in the movement. “These are not adornments, but burdens and bonds” Elias 3:10
What do green ribbons represent?
Green ribbons identify Nuvorin, participants who help gather others and who are in the primary steps of their ascension within the ranks
What do purple ribbons represent?
Purple ribbons identify Novaturii, the highest rank of participants. They are the codebreakers - the keepers of the sacred memory
Are ribbons sold?
Typically they are distributed at events rather than sold
What is the Botnet?
The Botnet is the movement’s membership and physical mailing network. You can join by sending a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) to: Rev Jon Valt PO BOX 7814 CUT AND SHOOT TX 77306
Why call it a Botnet?
The term is used ironically to parody automated online networks and unironically to describe our internal system of information distribution
Are there membership levels?
Yes. Participation levels are primarily indicated by ribbons, and other symbols mark achievements and entitlements
What is the Novaturii rank?
The Novaturii are ascended members who guide the movement and provide counsel to the Nuvorin. They exist and work outside the glow, outside the world of clicks and views. Many of the Novaturii and most of their duties are completely invisible to The Glow, where they are purposely separated from "scraping" algorithms and digital capture
What are Nuvorin?
Nuvorin are seekers and recruiters who introduce others to the movement. They work within The Glow spreading our message. "The green for the Nuvorin, who labor in the dust, posting and proclaiming, ever gathering the scattered" Elias 3:11 The "rank" of Nuvorin may be exceeded but their obligations are never abandoned. A Novaturin remains Nuvorin even with his new duties and must dress as a Nuvorin when performing Nuvorin duties
What are the booklets?
Small printed pamphlets containing lore, puzzles, and clues. They are religious tokens and should not be shared unless directed
Why are the booklets important?
They contain hidden messages and secret puzzle elements
Are puzzles part of the movement?
Yes. Cryptographic puzzles are central to participation
What kinds of puzzles are used?
Substitution ciphers, number codes, and hidden signals
Is there a prize contest?
Yes. A secret phrase contest exists for puzzle solvers in the form of pop-up competitions and The Sacred Memory competition
Where are clues hidden?
Clues may appear in music, booklets, sermons, or broadcasts
Are livestreams part of the movement?
Yes. Some interactions occur through livestream platforms
Can viewers participate online?
Yes, through interactive systems and chat participation, although online participation is severely limited compared to real-life events
Is participation in the Movement required to enjoy the music?
No. The music can be enjoyed independently
What is the tone of the movement?
A mixture of satire, mystery, and community-building
Is the movement political?
No. It critiques systems of influence but does not advocate political control
Does the movement use humor?
Yes. Many elements intentionally parody propaganda styles
What is the Spirit of Music?
The unifying emotional force that emerges during properly shared musical experiences
Is the Spirit of Music supernatural?
Yes. She is the source of all illumination
What is the Day of Reckoning?
The inevitable moment when society loses reliance on automated systems due to platform collapse or Digital Amnesia
What happens after the Day of Reckoning?
A. The world stumbles - "Without the machines’ light to guide and instruct them, the whole world stumbled, adrift and unknowing, for they had held knowledge only in borrowed light, and now the light faileth." Elias 1:7
B. The prepared shall rise - Participants who preserved knowledge can rebuild. "The faithful had heard the warnings and kept the ancient wisdom. They who had labored in the works, bound by tokens of remembrance, had prepared in silence for this day." Elias 1:8-9
What kind of people join the movement?
People interested in music, puzzles, technology, and cultural commentary
Is the movement open to everyone?
Participation is voluntary but some aspects are selective
Why secrecy?
Mystery encourages discovery and engagement
Are there rituals?
Yes. All events include secret participant-only ceremonies
What is initiation?
Receiving a ribbon or other symbol at an event or from a Participant and attending a live event will reveal all necesary steps
Are there online communities?
Yes, but they complement real-world participation and are heavily-weighted toward offline

Are the performances scripted?
They are partially scripted and partially improvised

Yes. Written texts such as the Book of Elias and oral presentations in the form of Sermons
What is the Movement Atlas?
A reference collection describing the movement's mission, philosophy, and operational guiding principles
Is this an ARG?
It shares features with alternate reality games but has a more practical, serious application
Can anyone create content within the movement?
Participants may contribute art, puzzles, and ideas via Rev. Jon Valt. They also actively guide the interactive content in shows and online streams
